Lucid Trading operates under Lucid Prop Ltd. It is a new company, founded in 2025. The company is registered at 3500 S Dupont Hwy Dover, DE 19901, United States. The firm reports over $60 million in payouts and over 50,000 traders on its platform.

Lucid Trading holds a 4.7/5 Trustpilot rating with over 3,100 reviews. Positive reviews highlight payout speed, rule clarity, and the EOD drawdown model. Negative reviews center on occasional support delays and isolated copy trading accusations. Lucid is among the top-rated firms on best prop firms comparison sites.

The LucidLive pathway consists of a transition to real exchange-traded capital, which adds a layer of credibility beyond firms that keep traders on simulated accounts indefinitely. However, Lucid's main limitation is its age. Launching in 2025 means the firm lacks the multi-year operational history of firms established between 2012 and 2022. The February 2026 restructuring (discontinuing LucidBlack, rebuilding LucidLive) shows a firm still iterating on its product. The rules could change as the firm matures.

๐Ÿ’ก Pro Tip: Start with smaller accounts and verify the payout reliability before scaling or investing larger amounts.

Lucid Trading processes payouts in an average of 15 minutes. That speed, paired with end-of-day trailing drawdown across every account type, one-time evaluation fees, no monthly subscriptions, and $0 activation fees, has turned a firm launched in 2025 into one of the fastest-growing names among futures prop firms. Now it's time to read this review that covers all three active account types (LucidFlex, LucidPro, LucidDirect), every rule, the path to live capital, platforms, pricing, and much more.

What Is Lucid Trading?

Lucid Trading is a futures-only proprietary trading firm founded by AJ Campanella in early 2025. The firm operates under Lucid Prop Ltd and focuses exclusively on CME-listed futures contracts. Traders start on simulated accounts and, after completing 5-6 payout cycles, transition to LucidLive accounts funded with real capital where orders route to the exchange.

lucid-trading-steps-to-funding-capital-prop-firms-finderFebruary 2026 brought a major restructuring. LucidBlack was discontinued and its best features were merged into an upgraded LucidPro. The LucidLive program was rebuilt with a cleaner transition path. A new invite-only LucidMaxx tier was announced for daily payouts. The current lineup consists of LucidFlex, LucidPro, and LucidDirect for standard purchases.

Lucid Trading Account Types Explained

Lucid offers three purchasable account types, each built for a different trader profiles. All three share several core features: EOD trailing drawdown, one-time fees, with no subscriptions, $0 activation fees, and news trading allowed on all accounts. Find below an explanation of each account type to decide which one is the best option for you:

1. LucidPro

LucidPro is the aggressive option. The evaluation allows a 1-day pass, meaning traders can hit the profit target and get funded in a single session. After the February 2026 update, LucidPro absorbed features from the discontinued LucidBlack: 3-day payout cycles, no minimum profitable days requirement, and a higher profit split (100% of the first $10,000, then 90/10). These payout mechanics are similar to firms like My Funded Futures, which also offers 100% on the first $10K.

lucid-trading-lucidpro-account-prop-firms-finder

The trade-off is tighter rules. LucidPro has a daily loss limit and a 35% consistency rule on funded accounts. Payouts process in 3 business days.

  • After 5 payouts, traders move to LucidLive.

LucidPro costs slightly less than LucidFlex at 50K and above, a clear pricing incentive from Lucid to push experienced traders toward this model.

2. LucidFlex

LucidFlex is the most forgiving account in Lucid's lineup. It has no daily loss limit in either evaluation or funded phases, and the funded stage removes the consistency rule entirely. That combination is rare among futures prop firm challenges. Traders with one large winning day followed by smaller days will not be blocked from payouts.

lucid-trading-lucidflex-account-prop-firms-finder

The evaluation requires hitting the profit target (6% of account size) while respecting a 50% consistency rule and the EOD trailing drawdown. There is no time limit. Once funded, the consistency rule disappears. The payouts require 5 profitable trading days per cycle and are processed in 5-7 business days. The profit split is a flat 90/10 from the first dollar.

  • After 6 payouts, you can transition to LucidLive.

3. LucidDirect

LucidDirect skips the evaluation entirely. You will pay a higher one-time fee and receive immediate access to a simulated funded account. The profit split matches LucidPro: 100% of the first $10,000, then 90/10. Payouts process in 3 business days.

lucid-trading-luciddirect-account-prop-firms-finder

LucidDirect carries the strictest rules: The consistency rule is 20% (the tightest in Lucid's lineup), and a daily loss limit applies with soft breach levels. After the February 2026 update, the 8-day minimum trading requirement was removed and a new $100K account size was added.

  • After 6 payouts, LucidDirect accounts transition to LucidLive.

Trading Rules and Restrictions

This is the section you must master before investing. Here's a summary we prepared to save you research time. Check out Lucids' rules and prohibited activities.

Drawdown Mechanics

All Lucid accounts use end-of-day trailing drawdown. The max loss limit (MLL) updates only at market close based on the highest end-of-day balance. Intraday equity spikes do not move the floor. A trader who is up $1,500 at midday but closes the session up $300 sees the MLL trail by only $300. This is one of the most forgiving drawdown mechanics in the futures prop firm space.

Once the account balance reaches a specific threshold (Initial Trail Balance), the MLL locks permanently and stops trailing. After a payout, the MLL shifts to the Locked MLL Balance. On LucidFlex, payouts do not affect the MLL, simplifying risk planning.

๐Ÿ’ก For a comparison of how EOD trailing differs from intraday trailing drawdown, read our full guide to trailing drawdown vs. EOD drawdown.

Daily Loss Limit

  • The LucidFlex Account has no daily loss limit at any stage.
  • The LucidPro uses a fixed DLL during evaluation, which transitions to a dynamic "LucidScale DLL" once the balance exceeds the Initial Trial Balance. The LucidScale formula equals 60% of the highest end-of-day profit.
  • The LucidDirect Account uses soft breach DLL levels ($600 for 25K, $1,200 for 50K, $1,800 for 100K, $2,700 for 150K). Hitting the soft breach pauses the account rather than terminating it.

News Trading

โœ… News trading is allowed on all Lucid accounts, including during NFP, FOMC, and CPI. There are no blackout windows and no profit restrictions around economic events. This sets Lucid apart from firms like Take Profit Trader, which restricts trading during FOMC and NFP on funded accounts.

Position Close and Overnight Holding

โŒ All positions on simulated accounts (LucidFlex, LucidPro, LucidDirect) must be closed by 4:45 PM EST each trading day. This means that overnight and weekend holding are not permitted. All the positions held past this time are automatically closed.

โœ… Only LucidLive accounts (real capital) allow overnight and swing trading.

Other Restrictions

Algorithmic and semi-automated strategies are permitted, but high-frequency trading (HFT) bots are prohibited. At least 50% of total profits must come from trades held longer than 5 seconds. Hedging is not allowed. You must place at least one trade every 20 days to keep accounts active. Finally, copy trading between accounts is not permitted.

Restricted Countries List

Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Bahamas, Barbados, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burma/Myanmar, Botswana, Burundi, Cambodia, Central African Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Crimea, Cuba, Congo Republic (Brazzaville), Congo (Kinshasa), Donetsk, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Haiti, Iceland, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jamaica, Kenya, Kherson, Kosovo, Laos, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Lithuania, Luhansk, Mali, Mauritius, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nicaragua, Nigeria, North Korea, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Russia, Senegal, Serbia, Sevastopol, Slovenia, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Turkey, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, Venezuela, Yemen, Zimbabwe.

What Happens Once I Get Funded? Funded Account Conditions

These are the conditions and requests once you pass the evaluation phase and start the SIM trading:

Profit Split

  • LucidFlex uses a flat 90/10 split from the first dollar.
  • LucidPro and LucidDirect both pay 100% on the first $10,000 in withdrawals, then 90/10 after that.

This 100%/$10K structure matches the approach used by Apex Trader Funding (100% on first $25K) and My Funded Futures (100% on first $10K). Among firms offering 100% front-loaded splits, Lucid's $10K threshold is standard.

Payout Schedule

Payout processing averages 15 minutes once it is approved. If you are a US trader using Plaid for ACH transfers, you will often receive the funds within hours. International payouts go through wire or PayPal and arrive in 1-2 business days.

  • LucidFlex requires 5 profitable trading days per payout cycle, with payouts processing in 5-7 business days.
  • LucidPro allows payout requests every 3 calendar days with no minimum profitable day requirement.
  • LucidDirect matches LucidPro's 3-day cycle.
  • Remember that the minimum payout request is $500 across all accounts.

Payout caps exist and scale with account size and payout cycle number. Each account has a maximum payout per cycle. These caps increase as you build a track record.

The Path to LucidLive

After 5 payouts (LucidPro) or 6 payouts (LucidFlex, LucidDirect), you automatically transition to a LucidLive Account. LucidLive accounts are funded with real capital, and orders route to the exchange. Some rules you need to know once you pass to a Live Account:

  • Swing trading and overnight holding are permitted on LucidLive.
  • Up to $5,000 of simulated profits transfer as the LucidLive starting balance on a 50K account.
  • The daily payouts are available on LucidLive.

The LucidLive pathway is a genuine differentiator. Most futures prop firms keep traders on simulated accounts indefinitely. Lucid's structured transition to real capital after a fixed number of payouts gives traders a clear milestone to work toward.

๐Ÿ’กPropFirmsFinder Comparison: Earn2Trade offers a similar concept with its Trader Career Path, which scales traders through progressively larger accounts toward a funded position with Helios Trading Partners.

Scaling Plan

LucidFlex and LucidPro use a dynamic scaling plan. As simulated profits grow, allowed contract sizes increase. Traders start with a base contract limit (e.g., 5 minis / 50 micros on 50K) and earn additional capacity as profits build. This prevents over-leveraging in the early stages.

๐Ÿ“Œ A difference: You can hold up to 10 simultaneous evaluations and up to 5 funded simulated accounts per household. Nonetheless, the LucidLive account is limited to 1 account per household.

Platforms and Tradeable Instruments at Lucid Trading

Trading Platforms

Lucid supports NinjaTrader, Tradovate, and TradingView. As for the Rithmic-supported platforms, the firm has: Quantower, MotiveWave, Tradesea, Sierra Chart, Jigsaw, among others. Both Rithmic and CQG data feeds are available. Platform access is included in the account fee at no extra cost.

๐Ÿ’ก This platform range is competitive with Alpha Futures, which offers a similar selection, including its proprietary AlphaTicks platform.

Markets and Instruments

Lucid focuses exclusively on CME Group futures: ES, NQ, YM, RTY, CL, GC, SI, ZB, and other CME, CBOT, NYMEX, and COMEX listed contracts. Micro contracts are supported. Forex, stocks, crypto, and CFDs are not available.

Is Lucid Trading a Good Choice? Our Conclusion

Lucid Trading has some good sides for a firm barely a year old. It built a differentiated product. LucidFlex, launched in late November 2025, is a mainstream futures prop account combining no daily loss limit, no funded consistency rule, and EOD trailing drawdown. If you work with asymmetric styles, occasional large winning days, or strategies that don't fit neat consistency percentages, LucidFlex addresses that directly. It also provides a one-time fee model with no recurring monthly billing, a 90/10 split from the start, and payout processing in under 15 minutes via Plaid for US-based accounts.

Next in line, LucidPro suits traders who want the fastest evaluation (one day) and the shortest payout cycles (every 3 calendar days), at the cost of a daily loss limit and a 40% per-cycle consistency rule. LucidDirect removes the evaluation entirely, though the tighter 20% consistency rule makes it the most demanding payout structure of the three plans.

The honest caveat is age. Lucid launched in 2025, and no amount of strong Trustpilot reviews fully substitutes for the operational track record that firms like Take Profit Trader (est. ~2015) or Topstep (est. 2012) have built over many years. The TradingView integration also carries a known risk: support has stated it cannot take responsibility for platform-side execution failures, which has caused friction for some traders.

๐Ÿ“Œ Our final tip: Starting with a smaller account to verify the full cycle from evaluation through payout before committing larger capital remains sound practice with any firm at this stage.

๐Ÿ“Œ For strategies on managing the evaluation phase, see our guide on how to pass a prop firm evaluation.

For CME futures day traders specifically, Lucid is currently one of the most compelling options in the space — and the strongest for anyone whose trading style doesn't fit rigid consistency rules. The combination of flexible account structures, fast payouts, no monthly fees, and a product roadmap that's been iterating quickly puts it ahead of several older, better-known firms on the rules and pricing dimensions.

Pros

  • End-of-Day (EOD) trailing drawdown across all account types, ensuring intraday swings don't move the loss limit
  • Simple one-time fee model with no monthly subscriptions, auto-renewals, or activation fees
  • Fully unrestricted news trading allowed during all major economic events like NFP, FOMC, and CPI
  • LucidPro accounts feature a 1-day evaluation pass and a 100% profit split on the first $10,000
  • LucidLive stage provides access to real capital with exchange-routed orders and daily payouts
  • Semi-automated and algorithmic trading strategies are permitted
  • Supports a wide range of platforms including NinjaTrader, Tradovate, and TradingView at no extra cost
  • High account limits allowing up to 10 simultaneous evaluations and 5 funded simulated accounts

Cons

  • Overnight and weekend position holding is prohibited on all simulated account models
  • LucidPro accounts enforce a 35% consistency rule and a daily loss limit
  • LucidFlex accounts have a slower payout processing window of 5-7 days
  • Strict prohibition on High-Frequency Trading (HFT) bots
  • Rule requirement that at least 50% of profits must come from trades held longer than 5 seconds
  • Transition to real capital (LucidLive) requires a track record of 5-6 successful payouts

Frequently Asked Questions

All Lucid accounts utilize an end-of-day (EOD) trailing drawdown model. The maximum loss limit only updates at the market close, meaning intraday equity swings do not move your drawdown floor.

No. All Lucid accounts require only a one-time fee. There is no monthly billing, no auto-renewal, and no activation fees across any account types.

Yes. Trading during high-impact economic events such as NFP, FOMC, and CPI is fully permitted on every Lucid account. There are no blackout windows or profit restrictions related to news events.

Overnight holding is not permitted on simulated accounts; all positions must be closed by 4:45 PM EST. However, LucidLive accounts (real capital) do allow for both overnight and weekend holding.

LucidLive is the real capital stage. After 5-6 payouts on a simulated funded account, traders transition to a live brokerage account where orders are routed to the exchange. Up to $5,000 in simulated profits can transfer as a starting balance, and daily payouts are permitted.

LucidFlex has no daily loss limit or consistency rules but features a slower 5-7 day payout cycle. LucidPro includes a daily loss limit and a 35% consistency rule but offers 3-day payouts, a 1-day evaluation pass, and 100% profit split on the first $10K.

Semi-automated and algorithmic strategies are permitted, but HFT bots are strictly prohibited. Additionally, at least 50% of profits must come from trades held longer than 5 seconds.

Traders can have up to 10 simultaneous evaluations and up to 5 funded simulated accounts per household. Each household is limited to one LucidLive account.

LucidBlack was discontinued in February 2026, with its featuresโ€”such as 3-day payout cycles and no minimum profitable daysโ€”merged into the upgraded LucidPro. Existing accounts had a final reset window in early March 2026.

Lucid supports NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView, Quantower, and MotiveWave, among others. Both Rithmic and CQG data feeds are available at no extra cost.

Lucid Trading processes all payouts through Rise, a multi-rail payment platform supporting ACH bank transfer, instant bank transfer, and cryptocurrency (USDT/USDC on multiple blockchain networks). US-based traders can use Plaid for instant ACH-style transfers, which typically settle within a few hours. International traders can use bank wire or crypto. US traders are excluded from crypto withdrawals. The minimum withdrawal amount across all account types is $500, and Lucid absorbs the Rise transfer fees, this means that you don't pay a separate withdrawal fee on top of their approved payout amount.
