Is Maven Trading Legit?
Maven Trading operates under Maven LLC, registered in Dubai, Silicon Oasis, UAE. The firm has been operating since 2022 and reports 220,000+ traders and 25,000+ funded accounts. Maven ranks competitively on best prop firms comparison sites.
Maven Trading sells a $2,000 challenge account for $13. That price point makes it one of the cheapest entry points across all forex prop firms. With five account types (1-Step, 2-Step, 3-Step, Instant, Mini), account sizes from $2K to $100K, and no time limits on evaluations, Maven has positioned itself as the budget alternative in a space dominated by firms charging $200+ for comparable accounts.

Maven is a young firm in a space. This is why we created this review: to give you a clear view of the firm. And, also, to suggest that starting with smaller accounts ($2K-$10K) to test payout reliability before committing to $50K-$100K evaluations is a sensible approach.
We evaluated the positive reviews, and they highlight low fees, fast payouts, clear dashboard design, and responsive Discord support. On the other side, the criticism centers on wider-than-average spreads, strict news trading enforcement (accounts failed for trades closing during restricted windows), and the $10,000 payout cap limiting high earners. Some traders report KYC rejections at the payout stage, though Maven has been responsive to legitimate cases.
This review covers every challenge type, rule, fee, payout mechanic, and platform detail. Read our analysis and highlights before investing.
What Is Maven Trading?
Maven Trading is a proprietary trading firm founded in 2022 and headquartered Dubai. The firm operates under Maven LLC, registered in the UAE. Maven is not affiliated with Maven Securities, a UK-based proprietary trading firm founded in 2011.
The company operates a simulated funded trader program. So, all trading takes place on demo accounts: You receive real monetary payouts based on your simulated performance. You will be able to use MetaTrader 5, Match-Trader, and cTrader as trading platforms.

Note: The firm claims over 220,000 traders, 25,000+ funded accounts, and $130 million+ in total funding allocated. Maven has a 95,000+ member Discord community and has been featured in Fox News, Yahoo Finance, and Digital Journal.
Maven Trading Challenge Types in Detail
Maven offers five distinct account types. Read the details and parameters for each type. After this, you can start by choosing the right one for you:
Find three evaluation-based challenges (1-Step, 2-Step, 3-Step), an Instant funding model, and a Mini account. The following sections explain all of them summarized for you to have a clear overview of how they work.

📌 Important note: All evaluation challenges feature no time limit and refundable fees (refunded on the third withdrawal).
If you are looking to compare these structures against other firms should check our forex prop firm challenges page.
1-Step Challenge
The 1-Step requires an 8% profit target in a single phase. The overall drawdown is 5%, trailing from the highest equity. The daily drawdown is 3%, and it is calculated by using the higher of the balance or equity at the end of the day. There are no minimum trading days, and the profit split is 80%.
The 5% trailing drawdown on the 1-Step is notably tight for an evaluation that requires 8% profit. You need to build nearly the entire 8% without ever dipping 5% from their peak equity, which leaves limited room for pullbacks.
2-Step Challenge
The 2-Step requires 8% in Phase 1 and 5% in Phase 2. The overall drawdown is 8% static (from the starting balance). The Daily drawdown is 4%. A minimum of 3 profitable days (at least 0.5% each) is required per phase, plus the profit split is 80%.
The 2-Step is Maven's most forgiving challenge. The 8% static drawdown gives traders a fixed floor that never moves, regardless of profits earned.
➡️ For a detailed comparison of how static drawdown differs from trailing, see our guide to trailing drawdown vs. EOD drawdown.
3-Step Challenge
The 3-Step spreads the evaluation across three phases, each requiring only 3% profit. The overall drawdown is 3% static. The daily drawdown is 2% and there are no minimum trading days required. The profit split is 80%. This is the cheapest account type, starting at $13 for the $2K size.
The 3% overall drawdown is the tightest in Maven's lineup. While the 3% per-phase target is low, the matching 3% drawdown means there is zero room for error. Any loss exceeding 3% of the starting balance fails the evaluation immediately.
📌 This model works best for traders with high win rates and small stop losses.
For strategies on managing the evaluation process, see our guide on how to pass a prop firm evaluation.
Instant Funding
Maven Instant skips the evaluation. You pay a one-time fee and receive immediate access to a simulated funded account.

More details about this alternative:
- The trailing drawdown is 3% from the highest equity.
- Daily drawdown is 2%.
- A 20% consistency score applies (the largest winning trade divided by total profit must be 20% or below).
- Maximum open risk is 1% at any point (floating PnL cannot exceed -1% of balance).
- The minimum withdrawal threshold is 3% of profit.
The 1% max open risk rule is the most restrictive parameter. On a $10K account, floating losses cannot exceed $100. One adverse candle on a standard lot position can breach the account. Position sizing on Instant accounts must be precise.
Maven Mini
Maven Mini is an instant funded account with a 24-hour trading window (the clock starts on the first trade). Here you have more details about Maven Mini:
- Daily drawdown is 2%.
- A 20% intraday consistency score applies.
- Maximum open risk is 1%.
- The profit split is 80%.
- Mini accounts allow only one payout.
- After the first withdrawal, the account closes.
Mini is designed as a short-term, single-payout product rather than a long-term funded account. The fee is refundable on the first withdrawal (not the third). It functions more as a low-cost test of execution quality than a scalable income vehicle.

Payment Methods
Payment methods include:
- credit/debit cards,
- cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, stablecoins via Boomfi),
- and local payment methods via AstroPay (bank transfer, UPI, Kora).
Trading Rules and Restrictions
News Trading
If you bought Standard challenges (1-Step, 2-Step, 3-Step), you cannot open or close trades within 2 minutes before or after red-folder news events on ForexFactory. Profits generated during the restricted window are voided entirely. Auto-close features that trigger during a news window also count as a violation.
⚠️ This is one of the strictest news trading rules in the CFD prop firm space.
Maven provides a detailed list of affected instruments per news event type. For instance, USD news affects all US indices, commodities, and forex pairs, containing USD and EUR news affects European indices and EUR pairs. The same logic applies to GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD, CHF, and JPY events.
The news rule does not apply to Instant and Mini accounts.
Prohibited Strategies
❌ Expert Advisors (EAs) are prohibited on all Maven account types. This includes EAs used for trade management or risk management functions.
❌ Excessive scalping (50%+ of trades held under 60 seconds) triggers a review.
❌ All-in trading (single trade with no stop-loss or risking more than the drawdown limit) is prohibited.
❌ Hedging exclusively through a challenge is not allowed.
❌ Gamifying (trading two accounts against each other) results in termination.
As of January 2026, traders can hold up to 5 concurrent drawdown positions on the same instrument. This was previously more restricted under martingale rules.
Funded Stage Rules
Once funded, if total profits exceed $5,000, no single trading day or trade can account for more than 50% of total profit. Excess profits beyond the 50% threshold are reduced to comply. This funded consistency rule is separate from the 20% consistency score on Instant accounts.
The 2-Step challenge requires 3 minimum profitable days (0.5% each) in the funded stage before a withdrawal. Other account types have no minimum trading day requirements in the funded phase.
IP Address Policy
Maven requires the IP address to remain consistent across all phases. Changing geographic regions without proof (plane tickets, live location verification) can flag the account. Traders who travel frequently or use public wifi should be aware of this restriction.
Funded Account Conditions & Payout Methods
Profit Split
All Maven accounts use a flat 80% profit split. There are no tiered progressions and no add-on upgrades to increase the split. This is lower than firms like FundedNext (up to 95%) and FTMO (up to 90%), but Maven's low entry fees offset the gap if you prioritize cost over split percentage.
Payout Schedule and Caps
Standard payouts are available every 10 business days (approximately bi-weekly). The first payout on funded accounts requires a 14-day waiting period. A 7-day payout option is also available. Payout processing takes approximately 1 business day after the waiting period.
Maven enforces a $10,000 payout cap per two withdrawal cycles, regardless of how many accounts you hold. Profits exceeding $10,000 are capped, and account balances are reset after two cycles. Withdrawal cycles are tied to the first account's withdrawal timing. This cap is a significant constraint for traders on larger accounts ($50K-$100K) who generate consistent profits.
Payout Methods
✅ Payout methods include cryptocurrency, direct bank transfer, and Rise. Evaluation fees are refundable on the third successful withdrawal.
Just bear in mind that the direct bank transfers will depend on your country of residence. If you are in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, or Ghana, you can receive payments via Direct Bank Transfer and other options. Payments via Rise incur a $20 withdrawal fee.
Check all the payment options, the countries that can be paid via Rise, and restricted countries on Maven's official site.
Scaling Plan
Maven offers a structured scaling plan. Traders who achieve 10% net profit across 4 consecutive months (averaging 2.5% per month) with at least one payout per month receive a 25% increase in account balance.
This cycle can repeat every four months. Maven claims consistent traders can grow from $200,000 to over $1 million in approximately two and a half years through this program.
Platforms and Tradeable Instruments
Trading Platforms
Maven supports three platforms:
- MetaTrader 5 (MT5),
- Match-Trader,
- cTrader.
MT5 was reintroduced in May 2025 after a period of unavailability. The pricing differs slightly between MT5 and Match-Trader (MT5 accounts are generally a few dollars cheaper per size).
Markets and Instruments
Maven offers access to approximately 76 instruments: forex majors, minors, and exotics, indices (S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, Dow Jones), commodities (gold, silver, oil, natural gas), metals, energies, and a limited selection of crypto-linked instruments. Maximum leverage is 75:1 for forex, 20:1 for indices and commodities, and 2:1 for crypto.
Commissions and Spreads
Commissions are $2 per side ($4 round-turn) for forex, $3 per side for metals and energy, and $0 for indices, commodities, ETFs, and crypto. Swap fees are $0 across all instruments. Spreads have been noted by independent reviewers as wider than average, which is a consideration for scalpers and high-frequency intraday traders.

PropFirmsFinder Final Thoughts: Who Is Maven Trading Best For?
Maven is built for budget-conscious traders who want to test their skills without a large upfront commitment. The $13-$15 entry point for a $2K account allows you to attempt multiple evaluations at a fraction of the cost charged by firms like FTMO or FundedNext.
The 2-Step challenge is the best option due to its 8% static drawdown, which provides a fixed floor. The 1-Step and 3-Step models use trailing or very tight drawdown limits that reduce margin for error.
Maven is less suitable for scalpers (excessive scalping rule), EA/algo traders (EAs completely prohibited), and news traders (2-minute restriction on Standard challenges). If you are an experienced trader who generates large, consistent profits will find the $10,000 per-two-cycle payout cap restrictive.
Important aspects to consider before committing:
- The 80% profit split with no upgrade path is lower than what most competitors offer at the funded stage.
- Maven does not offer futures trading. Traders looking for exchange-traded futures should consider the separate futures prop firm space.
Pros
- Evaluation fees are refundable (Standard/Instant after 3rd payout, Mini after 1st)
- Standardized scaling plan offers a 25% balance increase every 4 months based on consistent performance
- Reintroduced MetaTrader 5 (MT5) alongside Match-Trader and cTrader platforms
- Weekend and overnight holding permitted across all account types without forced closures
- Flexible entry options for beginners with $2K-$5K 2-Step challenges and static drawdown
- Unrestricted news trading is allowed on Instant and Mini account models
Cons
- Strict $10,000 payout cap enforced across every two withdrawal cycles regardless of total allocation
- Expert Advisors (EAs) and all forms of automated trading are strictly prohibited
- Two-minute news trading blackout period applies to all Standard (1-Step, 2-Step, 3-Step) challenges
- Instant and Mini accounts enforce a tight -1% maximum floating open risk rule
- Mandatory consistency score on Instant and Mini accounts prevents payouts for single-trade windfall profits
