Is Goat Funded Futures Legit?

GFT operates as a legal entity registered in Hong Kong (Wishes Tower International Limited, Company Number 76428795) and Saint Lucia (Goat Funded LTD, Company Number 2025-00240). The firm is not regulated by any financial authority, which is typical for prop firms offering simulated trading services.

The firm reports paying over $16 million in total rewards, with an average payout of $2,180. It publishes payout certificates on its website and social media. GFT holds a 4.8-star rating from approximately 5,000 verified reviews, though some third-party review platforms report lower scores and mixed feedback.

Trader complaints on platforms such as Trustpilot and Myfxbook center on payout delays, KYC processing times, and account breaches attributed to IP address flags. Positive reviews highlight affordable challenge fees, clear rules, and the no-time-limit evaluation structure. As with any prop firm, traders should start with smaller accounts to evaluate the payout process before committing to higher-tier purchases.

Goat Funded Trader (GFT) has paid out over $16 million in rewards since launching in 2022, offering simulated capital up to $400,000 with scaling to $2 million. The firm runs five distinct challenge models, supports five trading platforms, and advertises profit splits up to 100%. This review breaks down every program, rule, and fee so you have the facts before committing any money.

What Is Goat Funded Futures?

goat funded futures prop firm review

Goat Funded Trader is a proprietary trading firm established in 2022. It operates under two legal entities: Wishes Tower International Limited, registered in Hong Kong (Company Number 76428795), and Goat Funded LTD, registered in Saint Lucia (Company Number 2025-00240). The firm is co-founded by Edoardo Dalla Torre and Matteo Desideri.

GFT provides simulated trading accounts. Traders do not trade live markets with real capital. Instead, they trade on demo accounts and receive real monetary rewards based on their simulated performance. The firm uses its own in-house technology stack rather than relying on third-party white-label solutions, which gives it direct control over its dashboard and risk management systems.

The firm claims over 250,000 registered traders across 182+ countries, with a team of 40+ professionals. GFT holds a 4.8-star rating from approximately 5,000 verified reviews, and it sponsors industry events such as the Dubai Forex Expo. The firm is not regulated by any financial authority, which is standard for prop trading firms offering simulated accounts.

Goat Funded Trader Challenge Models

GFT provides multiple paths to a funded account: 1-Step, 2-Step, 3-Step evaluations, Instant Funding, and the Goat Blitz. Each model has different profit targets, drawdown limits, and fee structures. All challenge accounts feature unlimited trading periods with no time limit for completion.

1-Step Model

The 1-Step evaluation requires traders to hit a 10% profit target in a single phase while respecting a 4% daily drawdown and 6% maximum overall loss (static). A minimum of 3 valid trading days is required, where each day must generate at least 0.5% profit on the initial balance. There is no consistency rule during evaluation.

Once funded, the profit split starts at 80% with a bi-weekly payout cycle. Funded accounts have a $3,000 daily profit cap. Profits beyond this cap are deducted but do not breach the account. For the first two payouts, withdrawals are capped at 6% of the initial account size or $10,000, whichever is lower. This restriction lifts after the second successful payout.

2-Step Standard Model

The 2-Step Standard is GFT's most popular evaluation. Phase 1 requires a 10% profit target. Phase 2 requires 5%. Both phases carry a 5% daily drawdown and 10% maximum overall loss (static). A minimum of 3 trading days per phase is required. There is no consistency rule.

Funded conditions match those of the 1-Step: 80% profit split (upgradable to 100%), bi-weekly payouts, $3,000 daily profit cap, and the same first-two-payout cap of 6% or $10,000.

[VERIFY] GFT's own 2-Step Standard FAQ article lists 5% daily drawdown in the summary table, but the calculation example text says "Subtract 4% of the initial account size." This appears to be a copy-paste error in GFT's documentation. The table value of 5% is used in this review.

GFT also offers 2-Step GOAT and 2-Step PRO variants with different drawdown limits and profit targets. The GOAT model uses 4% daily drawdown and 10% max loss, while the PRO model uses 4% daily drawdown and 8% max loss. Check GFT's model page for full details on each variant.

3-Step Model

The 3-Step Model spreads the evaluation across three phases, each requiring a 6% profit target. Daily drawdown is 4%, and maximum overall loss is 8% (static). There is no minimum trading day requirement during the evaluation phases and no consistency rule at any stage.

Funded account conditions are similar to other models: 80% profit split, bi-weekly payouts, $3,000 daily profit cap, and the same initial payout caps. No minimum trading days are required to request a payout on 3-Step funded accounts.

Goat Blitz Model

The Goat Blitz is a limited-time, 1-step challenge that drops randomly on two weekends per month. The profit target is lower at 3%, but the risk parameters are tighter: 3% daily drawdown (trailing) and 5% maximum total drawdown (trailing). A minimum of 5 trading days is required, with each day needing at least 0.5% profit.

The Goat Blitz also enforces a maximum loss per trade rule. If floating PnL drops below -2% of the account balance at any point, the account closes permanently. This applies during both evaluation and funded stages.

Funded Goat Blitz accounts carry an 80% profit split (upgradable to 100%) and bi-weekly payouts. A 15% consistency rule applies to funded Goat Blitz accounts only, meaning no single trading day can account for 15% or more of total profits during a payout period. Violating this rule does not terminate the account but blocks payout requests until the threshold is met.

Leverage on Goat Blitz during evaluation is 1:100 for forex, 1:20 for indices and commodities, and 1:2 for crypto. Funded accounts reduce leverage to 1:50 (forex), 1:10 (indices/commodities), and 1:2 (crypto).

Instant Funding Models

GFT offers Instant Funding accounts that skip the evaluation entirely. Traders pay a higher fee and receive immediate access to a simulated funded account. There are currently two active Instant models: the Instant Funding GOAT and the Instant Funding PRO. The Instant Standard model was discontinued for new purchases on September 22, 2025, though existing accounts remain active.

The Instant Funding GOAT model uses a 3% daily trailing drawdown and a 6% total trailing drawdown, with a -2% maximum floating loss per trade. A minimum of 5 trading days is required, and a 15% consistency rule applies. The profit split starts at 80%.

The Instant Funding PRO model has no daily drawdown limit but uses a tight 4% total trailing drawdown. It requires 5 minimum trading days and applies a 20% consistency rule (no single day can exceed 20% of total profits). The -2% max floating loss per trade rule also applies.

All Instant models include a scaling plan. When traders reach 10% profit, they can choose to keep trading, request a normal reward, or scale the account. Scaling doubles the account balance, and the trader receives a 50% profit split on the 10% profit generated. This process can repeat up to three times.

GFT also offers a Goat $1 Model, a $1,000 account available for just $1. This account uses trailing drawdowns (3% daily, 6% total), requires 3 minimum trading days, has an 80% profit split, and expires after 28 days.

Trading Rules and Restrictions

GFT enforces several layers of risk management across all models. Rules differ between evaluation and funded phases, and between challenge types. Understanding these differences is critical before starting any account.

Maximum Daily Loss

The daily drawdown is calculated at 5:00 PM EST each day. GFT takes the higher value between the account balance and account equity at that time, then subtracts the daily drawdown percentage of the initial account size to set the threshold for the next trading day. If equity or balance drops below this threshold at any point during the day, the account is breached.

Daily drawdown limits vary by model: 4% for the 1-Step, 3-Step, and 2-Step GOAT/PRO models. 5% for the 2-Step Standard. 3% for the Goat Blitz and Instant GOAT. The Instant PRO has no daily drawdown limit.

All closed trade profits and losses, floating positions, swap fees, and commissions count toward the daily drawdown calculation.

Maximum Overall Drawdown

Maximum overall loss limits are either static or trailing, depending on the model. Static drawdowns set a fixed floor based on the initial account balance. For example, a $100,000 account with a 6% static max loss has an absolute floor of $94,000 that never changes regardless of profits earned.

Trailing drawdowns move upward as equity increases but never move back down. The Goat Blitz uses a 5% trailing max drawdown, the Instant GOAT uses 6% trailing, and the Instant PRO uses 4% trailing. All challenge-based models (1-Step, 2-Step, 3-Step) use static max drawdowns.

Maximum Loss Per Trade

Certain models enforce a -2% maximum floating loss per trade rule. If the combined floating PnL of open positions drops below -2% of the account balance, the account closes permanently. This applies to the Goat Blitz, Instant GOAT, Instant PRO, and Goat $1 models. Challenge-based models (1-Step, 2-Step, 3-Step) do not have this per-trade rule.

Consistency Rule

The consistency rule restricts how much profit a single trading day can represent relative to total profits during a payout period. It applies only to funded Instant models and the Goat Blitz, not to challenge-based funded accounts (1-Step, 2-Step, 3-Step).

The Goat Blitz and Instant GOAT use a 15% threshold. The Instant PRO uses a 20% threshold. Violating the consistency rule does not terminate the account. It blocks payout requests until additional trading days bring the highest single-day profit below the threshold.

News Trading Rules

News trading is allowed on all GFT accounts. Trades opened or closed within 2 minutes before or after high-impact news events (red-folder events on ForexFactory) are subject to a profit cap of 1% of the initial account balance. Profits beyond this cap are deducted during account review. No breach or penalty applies.

Prohibited Strategies

GFT prohibits several trading practices. Hedging is banned in all forms: within the same account, between accounts owned by the same trader, between different traders, and across firms. Martingale strategies and grid-based recovery systems are prohibited. Third-party Expert Advisors (EAs), off-the-shelf strategies, and strategies marketed to pass evaluation accounts will result in a breach. Traders may use their own custom EAs, but GFT reserves the right to request the code for review.

Copy trading between evaluation accounts or from funded to evaluation accounts is not allowed. All-or-nothing trading strategies that risk the entire account on a single trade are prohibited. GFT also prohibits exploiting latency, using insider information, and front-running.

Weekend holding is permitted. Stop-loss and take-profit orders are not mandatory. Trades lasting under 2 minutes are subject to review per GFT's rules.

Funded Account Conditions

GFT refers to its payouts as "rewards" because traders are operating simulated accounts. The firm uses a reward guarantee system, promising to process payouts within 2 business days or pay an additional $1,000 penalty.

Profit Split

The standard profit split across all models is 80%. Traders can upgrade to 100% profit split as an add-on at checkout for an additional fee. GFT also offers an "On-Demand First Reward" add-on, which allows a 40% profit split after only 3 trading days on the funded account, without waiting for the standard bi-weekly cycle.

Payout Schedule and Process

Standard payouts follow a bi-weekly (every 14 days) cycle. Traders request rewards through the GFT dashboard. The firm processes rewards through Skrill, Rise (which supports bank transfers and crypto), or direct cryptocurrency transfers to a wallet.

For the first two payouts on challenge-based funded accounts, withdrawals are capped at 6% of the initial account size or $10,000, whichever is lower. This cap is removed after the second successful payout.

Funded accounts also enforce a $3,000 daily profit cap. Profits earned beyond $3,000 in a single day are deducted from the account, but this does not count as a rule breach or account termination.

Scaling Plan

GFT advertises scaling up to $2 million in simulated capital. The scaling plan is available on Instant Funding models. When a trader reaches 10% profit, they have three options: continue trading normally, request a standard reward, or scale the account. Choosing to scale doubles the account balance. The trader receives a 50% profit split on the 10% profit at the time of scaling, then starts fresh on a new, larger account. This process can repeat up to three times.

The firm's evaluation fee is 100% refundable. Refund occurs when the trader receives the fourth payout on a funded account.

Platforms and Tradeable Instruments

GFT offers a broad selection of trading platforms and markets, giving traders flexibility in how they access and execute trades.

Trading Platforms

Five platforms are supported: MetaTrader 5 (MT5), TradeLocker, MatchTrader, cTrader, and Volumetrica FX. MT5 is the most widely used option, though GFT's disclaimer notes that MT5 services are not intended for U.S. citizens or residents. Traders select their preferred platform at checkout, and the platform cannot be changed after account creation.

GFT's proprietary dashboard provides account monitoring, performance analytics, trade history, payout requests, and a rewards system for earning loyalty points (Goat Points). The dashboard is accessible on desktop, and GFT also offers mobile apps on both iOS and Android.

Markets and Asset Classes

Tradeable instruments include FX pairs, CFD indices, metals, commodities, stocks, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies. All instruments are offered as CFDs. GFT does not provide live market access; all trading is simulated.

Commissions and Spreads

GFT offers raw spreads across all platforms. Commission is $5 per lot round-turn for FX pairs and metals. Indices, commodities, stocks, and cryptocurrencies carry $0 commission per lot. Accounts are swap-free, meaning no overnight swap charges apply for holding positions.

Leverage drops from evaluation to funded phase. GFT states that funded-phase leverage may be increased based on the trader's risk management, at the firm's discretion.

Pricing and Challenge Costs

GFT charges a one-time, refundable fee for each account. Prices depend on the model type, account size, and any add-ons selected at checkout. The fee is refunded after the trader's fourth successful payout. GFT frequently runs promotional discounts (40-50% off) and BOGO (buy one get one) offers.

Account sizes range from $2,500 to $400,000. Not all sizes are available across all models. Pricing varies between the GOAT, Standard, and PRO sub-models within each step count. Add-ons such as 100% profit split and on-demand first reward increase the total checkout price.

[VERIFY] GFT's pricing configurator is dynamic and changes based on ongoing promotions. The base fee for a $100,000 2-Step Standard account is listed at $438 before discounts ($263 with the current 40% off promotion at time of writing). Exact pricing for each account size should be confirmed directly at goatfundedtrader.com, as GFT updates its rates and promotions regularly.

Payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Skrill, and cryptocurrency.

Who Is Goat Funded Trader Best For?

GFT works best for manual, discretionary forex and indices traders who want flexible evaluation periods. The unlimited time limit removes the pressure of deadline-driven challenges, which suits swing traders and part-time traders who cannot commit to daily activity.

The variety of models makes GFT accessible for different experience levels. New traders may prefer the 2-Step Standard for its more generous 10% max overall loss. Experienced traders confident in fast performance may favor the 1-Step or Goat Blitz for quicker access to funded capital.

GFT is less suitable for EA/algorithmic traders and copy traders, given the strict restrictions on third-party EAs and copy trading between accounts. Hedging strategies are completely off-limits. Traders who rely on scalping during news events should note the 1% profit cap on trades within 2 minutes of high-impact news.

Futures traders looking for exchange-traded products should look at GFT's separate futures division, Goat Funded Futures (goatfundedfutures.com), which operates as a different entity with distinct rules, platforms, and pricing.
